5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR HAIR SOFT + SLEEK

I've been growing my hair longer the last year or so and was really struggling keeping it soft, as the ends of my hair were so brittle and full of spilt ends. I kept switching up my shampoos but I think the damage was done! To really make my hair healthy again I made some changes to my haircare routine and it's made such a difference. My hair feels so much softer, looks sleek and with less split ends. Here's a few tips to help restore your hair back to life!

GET IT TRIMMED

There's no way to fix split ends, you just have to get them cut off! Have a small trim every few months and your hair will feel instantly super healthy again.

WASH LESS FREQUENTLY

I used to wash my hair everyday, I couldn't stand the thought of 'dirty' hair but since I've cut down washing my hair to 2 - 3 times a week it feels so much better, also I'm so lazy to wash it more than that! Constantly washing your hair dries it out so cut back on those washes! Also doesn't second day hair just look better? It's much easier to style too! If your hair gets greasy easily, then find a dry shampoo that works for you and also try and touch you hair less, it helps prevent it from getting greasy quickly.

WASH WITH WARM WATER

Washing your hair frequently with hot water strips away your natural hair oils, leaving it feeling dry and coarse. I always try and wash with warm water as it will still clean you hair without drying it out. It's really hard to do in the winter when it's freezing cold but my hair thanks me for it! I then finish with a blast of cold water, this helps retain moisture in your hair and closes the hair cuticles, making your hair look shiner and less frizzy.

MASKS & OILS

I love using intensive hair masks to really give my hair some extra TLC. My hair has really been loving this L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Hair Mask Pot, it contains a blend of 6 flower oil extracts to condition and bring shine to dry ends. The texture is thick and creamy as I would have expected and has quite a strong floral scent. Since using this mask, the ends of my hair feel less dry and coarse and to really seal in the moisture I follow with a hair oil.

Ways to Keep Your Hair Soft & Sleek
My current fav is the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil. We all know how amazing Moroccan argan oil is for keeping your hair super soft and nourished, this blend also helps to strengthen the ends of your hair. I add a few drops in the palm of my hairs and rub gently to the ends of my damp hair, after washing it. Don't use too much as a little goes a long way and you don't want to make your hair too oily!

PUT DOWN THE HOT TOOLS

I used to use hair straighteners and curling tongs almost every week and my hair really suffered, it felt and looked so damaged and honestly just so frazzled! Now I can't remember the last time I used a hot tool, I only use my hair-dryer on a low setting or let it dry naturally when I can. If I want curly hair I've been using sleep in rollers and seriously it's effortless, big curls overnight - amazing and no heat! If you love using your hot tools, just be sure to use a heat protector spray and try and avoid too much heat on the ends.

Hope you found these tips useful in keeping your hair soft and sleek!

  5. Nice tips Hanh! I really wish I could skip my hot tools but unless I wear my hair in its natural state ( extremely curly) all the time thats just a no go for me :( I think i've damaged my hair more by colouring ir so many times than via heat but heat definitely does a number on it as well. Agree on all the tips here and follow 1 thru 4 myself. You hair looks SO gorgeous and healthy in that pic btw!!

  6. I hardly ever use my straightener nowadays. Only if I'm going out. I use my hairdryer on my fringe to make it sit properly. I should really buy a heat protectant though.

  16. Your hair is beautiful! You've actually covered every tip I'd give! I just need to keep up on trims and get in the habit of using oils. When do you use them? I can't in the morning because then I'll have oily hair all day and then before bed, I'm worried about getting my pillows dirty. Maybe I'm putting on way too much?

  20. Your hair looks seriously amazing, Hanh!

Mine is just frizzy by nature, so I'm still experimenting to find the combination of products that makes it happy. For now I'm trying to space my washes more, and I have to force myself to use a mask at least once a week. I get so lazy with that stuff! >_<
